Storm in Scandinavia and Holland November 2007
Abstract : Even if it did not provoke enormous damage to property and human, storm which raged at night from Thursday, 8 untill Friday, November 9th disrupted sea traffic.
The authorities were prevented from the possibility of having waves of several metres achieve coast (the highest waves since 1987 !): capacities were then taken with boats which joined ports by waiting for a more quiet sea.
By measure of security, most of the oil companies closed their flat shapes as in Norway; the Rotterdam's port was inaccessible too because of the strong squalls of wind of a scale calling back that of the 1953!
The ships which were forced to remain offshore lost for certain their containers: so, thousands of bananas were found on néérlandaises beaches in the big happiness of their inhabitants.
In Germany quite as in Denmark, in Norvege and in Sweden, connections of ferries were cancelled.
In France, of important dégats in Nord-Pas-de-Calais were listed(counted) with flown away roofs and torn away(extracted) trees.

Résumé : même si elle n'a pas provoqué d'énormes dégâts matériels et humains, la tempête qui a sévi dans la nuit du Jeudi 8 au Vendredi 9 Novembre a fortement perturbé le trafic maritime.
Les autorités ont été prévenues de la possibilité d'avoir des vagues de plusieurs mètres atteindre les côtes (du jamais vu depuis 20 ans !) : des dispositions ont alors été prises avec des bateaux qui ont rejoint les ports en attendant une mer plus calme.
Par mesure de sécurité, la plupart des compagnies pétrolières ont fermé leur plate forme comme en Norvège ; le port de Rotterdam lui aussi était inaccessible en raison des fortes rafales de vent d'une ampleur rappelant celle de 1953 !
Les navires qui ont été contraints de rester en mer ont perdu pour certains leurs conteneurs : ainsi, des milliers de bananes ont été retrouvées sur les plages néérlandaises au grand bonheur de leurs habitants.
En Allemagne tout comme au Danemark, en Norvege et en Suède, des liaisons de ferries ont été annulées.
En France, d'importants dégats dans le Nord Pas de Calais ont été recensés avec des toitures envolées et des arbres arrachés.
